The "Exotica" association continues to introduce listeners to new music from the westernmost city of Russia - Kaliningrad. Los Chikatilos have already become a legend, and the recently debuted Bigudi have become idols of bohemian youth. We sincerely hope that a similarly successful career awaits another Kaliningrad group published by "Exotica".
Poonk & Psilocybeat Electro-Caustic Orchestra - a solo project by the well-known composer, electronic musician, and violinist Dmitry "Poonk" Demidov - one of the founders of Los Chikatilos and a permanent member of the cult esoteric gothic/dark folk collective Romowe Rikoito. In 2002, after the successful album "Guten Organ" was released, Poonk left Los Chikatilos to pursue a solo career in order to express the accumulated musical ideas that had not been realized within Los Chikatilos. The result was largely an experimental album "Apparent Achromatism" by his new ensemble Psilocybeat Electro-Caustic Orchestra, which the musicians perceive as a trial run in search of their style.
A year later, Poonk recorded a new program titled "Beton Digital". The fashionable electroclash, brutal electro, and '80s retrofuturism replaced electronic psychedelia. Vocal experiments that began with the album "Guten Organ" continued as well. For "Beton Digital", Poonk recorded several charming songs that may soon become hits. A few tracks were recorded together with Katya Khudolei (voice and lyrics), whose solo works had previously appeared in compilations like 'Toxic Girls! Nightmare for (13) unlucky boystars' (Tsunami-Addiction, 2002) and 'K' (N.O.I.S.E, 2003), specifically compiled for a fashion show by Karl Lagerfeld (this CD included tracks from well-known projects like Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Death in Vegas, Chicks on Speed, etc.).
Musicians from Kaliningrad have always been at the forefront of musical fashion, traditionally oriented towards current European trends and styles. Poonk's new work is no exception; such an album could very well have been recorded in Germany, Austria, or England. After all, the distance from Kaliningrad to Berlin is half that to Moscow!
