St. Petersburg label '56 STUFF' presents the new album of the project Fyue - 'Johnson's Cubes.' This is Fyue's fourth album. It has nothing in common with the first two (their style is closer to techno), while the third - 'Plunger' - is almost entirely contained within it. Thus, on 'Johnson's Cubes,' all of the musician's experiments in the field of acid jazz up to the beginning of 2003 are expressed. Some of the tracks presented on the album are already familiar to listeners from the compilations 'Taiyny khod fishki' ('Song about love,' 'La Metro') and 'T-YE' ('Vybor knopok'). What Fyue himself says about the album: The album was supposed to be as dumb as all the previous ones, but I decided to use the intelligence that was not part of my previous set of tools. When choosing the album's titles and its tracks, intelligence was still not used. The track titles partly reflect their mood and partly the differences from each other. In other words, mainly the tracks differ by their names. Of course, everything could have been simplified and named with numbers; but not all numbers can reflect the mood of the music. Seeing a large inscription 'Johnson' on the wall of one of the houses, I thought that it should be immortalized not only on the wall but also in the music. It is no secret to anyone that Johnson is the main feature distinguishing a man from a woman. I would call my album 'Johnson and Johnson,' but this trademark is already in use. That is why I decided to increase the number of Johnsons through the track names. Prepare yourselves for tracks that will be diverse and unexpected in all their manifestations. Yes, we dare to characterize the overall style of the album as 'experimental acid jazz,' but in his experiments, Fyue sometimes goes very far, and in completely different directions.
