Клубные российские · 22.10.2003
The "Exotica" Association continues to release music by domestic artists working in the style of experimental dub. As you remember, this series began in the winter of 2003 with the release of the album "Astral Space Dub", recorded by the leader of the project More Spokoiniya Dmitry Tikov a.k.a. Dr. Tikov. Then followed the record "Dubbutterfly" by favorites of the Moscow audience Second Hand Band and the controversial work of the Saratov group Cock On Dub "Sungrown". The autumn season is also full of pleasant surprises! The first of these is the album by the recognized leaders of the Russian dub community - the legendary project Dub TV!
New album DUB TV "BassMass"
October 23 at the club "16 Tons" starting at 21:00
History of the group "DUB TV":
The "DUB TV" team was founded in 1997 by Shura Antonov - the leader of the popular punk group "Deti Kennedy" in the early 90s, and later - of the reggae collective "Amudarya".
The group was conceived as a multimedia project, which, in particular, involved the use of television receivers. The sound accompaniment of television broadcasts, specially processed through special devices, was mixed with the sound of traditional musical instruments and electronic synthesizers.
In early 1999, the group worked in Moscow clubs with the cult St. Petersburg character Doctor Aybolit (Andrey Kunitzin) as MC, then independently - where the singer Lana Aksenova ("Raag", "Amudarya") and DJ Atom (Slava Kiselev) performed as MCs, having previously collaborated with Shura in the trance project "Asymptotic Reality". Later, Zhenya Martynov (Roland GP 8000) from the team "Mission: Anticyclone" and MC Bob from "Muzungu" joined the group. From this moment, the final lineup of the group is revealed, and the stylistic direction of the music (reggae-dub-raggamuffin-dancehall) is determined.
Currently, DUB TV's performance is a spectacular show of European level with MC change on stage, raggamuffin reading in Russian and English, incredible drive backstage and in the hall.
The DUB TV community, in addition to performances, also supports and promotes its own record label DubTV Multimedia Production, which has the following releases: DUB TV "DaBudetDub" 2000, DUB TV meets Dr. I-Bolit "Mixture for the Whole Family" 2002, Amudarya "River of Happiness" 2002, "Dub Community of Russia 2" 2003, DUB TV "Music of the Northern Lights" 2003.
All releases of DUB TV Multimedia Production contain a multimedia application, where there's a place for video clips, slide shows of photos, internet access to the DUB TV website (www.dubtv.ru), a bunch of bonuses and creative tricks.
The group successfully tours and performs not only in Russia but also abroad.
In July 2002, at the Soca Reggae Riversplash festival in Slovenia, Tolmin, DUB TV represented Russia and performed on stage with such "monsters" of reggae-dub music as B.R.Stylers, Buju Banton, and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
DUB TV about their new album:
"At the numerous requests of domestic fans of reggae-dub-trance music, the sound system DUB TV has prepared an exclusive album containing tracks in the above-mentioned styles. Many are familiar with albums "DaBudetDub", "Music of the Northern Lights", "Mixture for the Whole Family", which contain high-tech-intellectual compositions (all DUB TV members have higher education, and some have academic degrees), primarily in song format. Unlike previous works of the veterans of the resonant filter and delay machine, this can be characterized as an attempt to model the surrounding reality through rhythmic constructions and infralow frequency sound vibrations, as well as their combinations. When listening, it is recommended to turn off all equalizers, sub-basses, etc. - the creators of BASS MASS have already taken care of your subwoofer. It's also advisable not to place glasses on the speakers. Like other DUB TV releases, this record contains a multimedia shell with video-photo materials and internet support for the group's website. Given that the musical material is largely experimental, DUB TV accepted Andrey Borisov's proposal to release this CD on the "Exotica" label - a label that continuously publishes exclusive and authentic musical material."
