Ru Paul is impeccably beautiful, sings wonderfully, dresses stunningly, acts in movies, promotes cosmetics, and appears on television. He was born on November 17, 1960 in San Diego, California. His mother, who was quite original, decided to give the child a rare and memorable name that no one else had. She named him Ru Paul Andre Charles, so contrary to popular belief, Ru Paul is indeed his real name. Ru's impeccable taste showed from childhood - when his mother was getting ready to go to the theater, she had no better consultant than Ru. Joining a ballet class, Ru Paul repeatedly received awards as the best performer in the Afro style and the best dancer at Comperts School. At the age of fifteen, Ru moved to Atlanta with his sister and brother-in-law and attended the Northside School of Performing Arts. In the five years since obtaining his driver's license, Ru has crossed the country over 50 times, driving very expensive cars for his brother-in-law's brokerage company. Ru's first professional appearance and recognition in show business was in the TV show "American Music Show," which aired on cable TV in Atlanta. In spring 1984, Ru Paul came to conquer New York, but after seven months of wandering in shelters and sleeping in parks, he returned to Georgia with nothing. Deciding to devote himself fully to a musical career, Ru Paul recorded his first album "Sex Freak" in 1985, which unexpectedly received good reviews, excellent press, and popularity. Ru found himself in the spotlight, his photos started appearing on glossy magazine covers, he became a socialite and TV interviewee. Riding on this success, Ru released his next work - "RuPaul is Starbooty," further solidifying his success. However, he was still far from achieving the status of a true star and Ru Paul had to work as a go-go dancer at a club called "Weekends" in Atlanta for a whole 2 years. In November 1987, Ru returned to conquer New York and after singing and dancing in clubs, he was crowned the Queen of Manhattan two years later. The next stage in Ru's creative life was his work in the movies. Ru landed his first significant role in Spike Lee's "Crooklyn" in 1994. Later, Ru appeared in 17 feature films of various genres, mostly revolving around transvestites and drag beauty contests. Some of his most famous works include "Blue in the Face" with Harvey Keitel and Jim Jarmusch, "To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar" with Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes, "A Mother's Prayer," Wigstock, The Brady Bunch Movie 2, and even a role in an episode of "The X-Files." While acting in films, Ru never forgot about music: his song "Supermodel (You Better Work)," co-written with the Godfather of Electroclash Larry Tee, topped charts on both sides of the Atlantic. He now has 5 albums in his discography, countless singles, and has contributed to several soundtracks, including for the animated film "South Park." Duets with Elton John on "Don’t Go Breaking my Heart" and with Martha Wash on "It’s Raining Men" became timeless superhits. Being both a man and a woman, Ru Paul presents himself splendidly. High heels, legs for days, outrageous wigs, flawless makeup - that's Ru Paul! Ru Paul is now the number one star. Supermodel, drag queen, innocent girl, comic-transvestite - he embodies all these personas. The most popular drag queen in America has been hosting the most scandalous New York club freak show for many years. Ru's multifaceted talent is showcased across a wide creative spectrum. He sings, dances, acts in movies, and appears in commercials. Having become the first transgender model, Ru Paul now wants to become the first "bipolar" supermodel. It's preferable to be both a man and a woman than just one: much is always better than one. August 13, Saturday "Imperia Party" at "L’eto Project," special guest - Ru Paul
