The Longest DJ Set in History

DJ Gee Papa from Cyprus made it into the Guinness Book of Records with the longest DJ set lasting over 116 hours. The previous record was set by Mexican Agustin E. Gonzalez Aguilar in 2006, lasting 88 hours. Although DJ Gee Papa claims he broke this record last summer, playing a 105-hour set at the Limassol Nautical Club, named 'The Longest DJ Marathon.' However, this record was not officially confirmed by the Guinness World Records committee, so this year the DJ decided to invite representatives of the media and Guinness World Records organization as viewers in advance. In preparation for the six-day set, 34-year-old Gee Papa ran for three hours daily and trained endurance to minimize necessary breaks. During the performance, he was allowed a five-minute break every hour, but the DJ refused, so by the end of the set, his accumulated breaks added up, allowing him to rest for two hours. Using two Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3 players, a DJM-800 Mixer, Funktion One speakers, and willpower, Gee mixed over two thousand tracks, with permission to play any melody repeatedly. Each of the six days had a musical theme including Latin American motifs, mainstream, and purely electronic music.
