Save I'am - God, save techno!
Клубные российские · 23.03.2008
After a three-month break, Gazgolder Gallery will once again host the already legendary Save festival. Simply listing the names of the festival's participating artists is enough for minimalism lovers to cancel all their plans in favor of this truly unprecedented event.
Flags in the sky! France, Switzerland, UAE, Canada, Netherlands, and Russia! The lineup of headliners includes Cabanne, Pompelmoessap, Shadi Megallaa, Pheek, E-Contact, festival residents Easy Changes, and rising stars of the domestic minimal scene Suokas and Dasha Pushkina.
Cabanne, a favorite of Telegraph Records and a leading artist of the Parisian label Minibar, will open the first event of 2008 in the series of the famous 'saves' at Gazgolder Gallery.
Pompelmoessap - a Swiss trio born in Luciano's studio in Geneva in 2000. They continue to rent this studio to this day, having become known musicians who have received carte blanche from Chaton, the head of Plak Records, and have earned the recognition of audiences at clubs like Fuse in Brussels, Piping Club in Geneva, and one of Europe's major techno festivals, Air. Much of Pompelmoessap's popularity is thanks to their album 'Winters Are Getting Shorter,' which has found favor with Richie Hawtin and is often played in his sets.
The list of participating countries in Save I'am has been expanded to include the United Arab Emirates, from where Shadi Megallaa will come to the festival. This spring, Vibrant Sounds will finally be heard in Moscow - a sound noted for its chaotic connections with acid and electro, a cunningly minimalist and American-funk-influenced sound from either the only electronic label in Dubai or the eponymous show through which Shadi has promoted the self-assured American online radio Proton almost since its inception.
The creator of Archipel and Kalimari, the phlegmatic Canadian Pheek, before incorporating his own musical sense into the label, released so much that within the genre - undoubtedly minimal - a description of the artist should be limited to the following list: Adjunct, M_nus, Leftroom, Contexterrior, We Are, Telegraph, Safari Electronic, Pariter, Tic Tac Toe, Epsilonlab, Clever Music, Thinner, Hautec, Sinergy Networks.
The minimalist from Rotterdam, E-Contact, may become a discovery for most festival guests. However, at the moment, the Dutch artist has already been 'discovered' by labels such as Stock5, Punkt Music, Phonocult, Suruba, and Delete. The result is a tight touring schedule hastily filled on MySpace in Dutch: Naples - Moscow - Munich - London. Like all the headliners of Save I'am, the musician will appear in Moscow for the first time.
