SENSATION 7 - Orange
Клубные российские · 12.09.2002
The SENSATION 7 project is a series of parties held in elite Moscow clubs and restaurants. Each event within the project follows a unified concept. Each party is assigned a specific color, which sets the stylistic design of the club. The color scheme dictates everything, from the room's fragrance to the cocktail color. The SENSATION 7 party will be in orange tones and will open the MONSIEURORANGE project. MONSIEURORANGE is the pseudonym of Philippe Bertrand, a composer, arranger, and musician. Bertrand started his music career in 1997, moving from punk-noise with the Weedy Fellows group to experiments with different styles and instruments. In April 2000, Mr.Orange shut himself in the Jarring Effects studio to record his first album. After a year and a half of intense work, the material was ready, and in February 2001, his freshly recorded album titled 'Glurp' was released. The reviews were excellent: Mr.Orange cleanses your ears, brain cells, and lifts your spirits. Critics were thrilled, and the author received an award from the national committee supporting young artists Fair. Mr.Orange's music is a complex mix of musical minimalism, wild rhythms, French chansons in the spirit of Jacques Brel and Serge Gainsbourg. The album is imbued with the childlike straightforwardness of the dadaists, with Bertrand being a worthy successor to Dada's ideas. Mr.Orange's poetry consists of simple rhymes, childlike words addressed to the adult world, wordplay, and jokes, a message from the world of childhood. They are full of lyricism, light, sunshine, enthusiasm, and love. Bertrand creates his slightly crazy and cheerful world, evoking associations with a distant and happy childhood that may have been a dream or reality. Mr.Orange writes songs, cheerful and funny, about the world and love, too ironic for neo-hippies and too aesthetic for radio and MTV. The beloved instrument Orang a makes unique sounds with the Bontempi electric organ. This instrument deserves a separate conversation. Soft croaking sounds, sometimes reminiscent of a barrel organ or something playing at fairs or carousels, allowed critics to define Orang's sound experiments as 'Bontempi style.' Mr.Orange's creativity is so original that it is almost impossible to find even approximate analogs. The music and creative concept of Nick Currie, performing under the pseudonym Momus, probably come closest in sound and creative vision to Orang. It is known for sure that Mr.Orange has new material ready and plans to release an album in October 2002. Mr.Orange's only concert will take place on September 13 at the Boulevard club, where he will present his new program. Boulevard Restaurant, 30/7 Petrovka St., September 13, 2002, 21:00.
