The Shapeshifters are Simon Marlin and Max Reich, a house duo from West London who own their own label. They are now called pioneers, leading the revival of the house movement.
The history of electronic music has gone through different stages. Preference was given to either complex themes with broken rhythms or minimal techno. But house music with quality melodies and strong vocals has never gone out of fashion. It’s just that the bright stars haven’t lit up in this sky lately. Shapeshifters decided to correct this situation. Their first work, “Lola’s Theme,” became one of the most mesmerizing and captivating melodies of 2004, still blowing up dance floors around the world. The tune stayed at the top of the British radio chart for more than 8 weeks, marking the return of house music to the airwaves. Fame and recognition suddenly fell on the group, followed by endless television shows and interviews, performances in front of large audiences at various festivals and work in the best clubs in the world. The next single "Back To Basics", which became an absolute dance hit and entered the top ten British compositions of 2005, finally secured the group's title as the brightest discovery of the dance scene in recent times. The award in the category "Breakthrough of the Year" at last year's House Music Awards only confirmed this. The third single "Incredible" is currently gaining momentum all over the world, including here - you can often hear it on Radio Energia.
Fans were waiting for the release of a full-fledged album from the group that produced hit after hit. And they waited! Their debut album "Sound Advice" was released on March 20th, proving to the world that the British dance scene has not lost its ability to give the world real gems. The musicians, hungry for talent, invited three new vocalists to work on the album (Kelly Marie Smith, Jenna and Antigone Foster), in addition to singer Cookie, who shone in Lola’s Theme and Back To Basics. Remembering their musical roots, Max and Simon also invited their own idols to collaborate, namely one of the founders of the famous 70s funk group Chic - Nile Rodgers. As a result, the song "Sensitivity" was born, which, apparently, will become the fourth single from the album. What can you expect from an album that has at least three absolute hits in its arsenal?
