Клубные российские · 08.12.2009
As previously reported, on December 12, Saturday, Milk Moscow club will host a unique live performance by pioneers of psychedelic downtempo – Shpongle, featuring an exclusive live concert with two dozen musicians involved in the project and the presentation of their new album Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland. The names of other artists performing alongside the headliners have been revealed. Among them are: Younger Brother, Promiteus, Dick Trevor, Biosintes, as well as the theatrical show Mahaon and Solarwind.
The duo Shpongle consists of Simon Posford (also known as Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (a member of The Infinity Project, 1200 Micrograms, and others). The sound of the project combines ethnic samples, live instruments, and Western electronic music.
Many other invited participants have worked on the project. For example, the female vocals on the album Tales of the Inexpressible are performed by trip-hop soloist Michele Adamson. Her solo can be heard in the tracks Around the World in a Tea Daze, Dorset Perception. The well-known sound engineer and composer Ott also worked on Shpongle's albums.
Both main participants are involved in many projects (mainly Goa trance scene) and record their compositions at Twisted Records, led by Posford. In addition, there is a film featuring the collective - Liquid Crystal Vision. It uses compositions from various artists, unique visuals, and interviews with many British and Indian musicians.
This time, the Moscow live performance of Shpongle will consist of 17, not 13 people, as last year...
Younger Brother is a collaborative project by Simon Posford and Benji Vaughn, focused on creating electronic music with no specific stylistic affiliation. The duo's work tightly weaves together psychedelic trance, ambient, and IDM. Their debut album A Flock of Bleeps was released on Twisted Records in 2003 and quickly became cult. The second album Last Days of Gravity was released on October 15, 2007, with artwork designed by Storm Thorgerson, known for his work with Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, and Led Zeppelin.
The duo of Simon and Benjamin formed in 2005 when they were offered to write a charity track for the organization Survival International. Inspired by the Colombian Kogi tribe, whose members call themselves "Elder Brothers" (and those living in Western civilization - "Younger Brothers"), they decided to name their union Younger Brother...
The event will open with a live performance from the team Mahaon and Solarwind featuring their theatrical show. After Shpongle's performance, the DJs — Prometheus(UK), Dick Trevor(UK), Biosintes(RU), Stels(RU) will take the stage.
