Shine of MayDay

Mayday is an annual techno music festival held in St. Petersburg for the sixth time. This year, the festival's slogan is the word Shine. 'Shine' is something greater and higher than us. Something that cannot be ignored. Something that temporarily changes the surrounding world. Fantastic light and sound, the world's best DJs, and the most devoted audience - Mayday has made an immeasurable contribution to the development of dance culture in Russia, attracting the best artists, and raising the standard of organizing dance events each time. The list of stars at the Russian Mayday is headed by the world's number one DJ, Paul van Dyk, Chris Liebing, Marco Carola, and Miss Kittin. The history of Mayday began in 1991 when the popular German DJ WestBam and his colleagues organized a youth rally in Dortmund in support of the independent radio station DT64, which was under threat of closure. The name of this spontaneous 'party' became the word Mayday, a distress signal in radio communication. Within a year, Mayday turned into Germany's loudest techno festival and in the following years - in all of Central Europe. Mayday always keeps pace with the times and monitors the smallest changes in dance culture: this festival introduced The Prodigy, Moby, Paul van Dyk, and Miss Kittin to a wide audience. In the early 2000s, Mayday crossed the borders of Germany. Twin events appeared in Belgium, Hungary, and Australia. In 2002, Mayday came to St. Petersburg. Fantastic light and sound, the world's best DJs, the most devoted audience, and the grandest myth - all of this makes Mayday a unique event and the main dance event of spring. Headliners of Mayday Shine: Tiefschwarz (Berlin) - the kings of deep, minimal, and tech sound and house music, celebrating their tenth anniversary with a tour in support of the Black Music compilation. Adam Beyer (Stockholm) - the creator and prince of unique Swedish techno. Ferry Corsten (Rotterdam) - a trance superstar, last year ranked as the sixth DJ in the world by the English Djmag survey, visiting Russian fans again. WestBam (Berlin) - the creator of Mayday and an active figure in the German techno scene. Tocadisco (Cologne) - a hitmaker in commercial remixing, one of the hottest names of the year, making his Russian debut.
