Sonar 2006. Faster, Higher, Stronger
Клубные зарубежные · 08.04.2006
In 2006, the Sonar festival, which will take place from June 15 to 17 in Barcelona, will be dedicated to black music culture, which greatly influenced the formation of electronic music. Reggae, dub, hip-hop, jazz, funk, and disco will be represented across several arenas. Their deep knowledge in this area will be presented by Fat Freddy’s Drop, Pete Philly & Perquisite, Bus feat. MC SOOM-T, Jeff Mills, Kenny Dope, Ugly Duckling, Jake The Rapper, and Gilles Peterson. The main intrigue of the upcoming festival will be the return of legendary groups to the stage: one of the main disco bands of the 70s, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, as well as Digable Planets, Linton Kwesi Johnson, and the Dennis Bovell Dub Band.
The second object of heightened attention will be Japanese music. The Sonar creative team considers Japanese electronics to be the most rapidly and interestingly developing, which is likely related to the unconventional thinking and high technologies in this country. As proof, on the daytime stage SonarComplex with live performances will appear Yanagisawa Marina, Horio Kanta, Hawai Taeji, Doravideo, Optrum, Nobukazu Takemura, and Softpad.
The main daytime stage of the Sonar festival will present the latest trends in experimental electronics, avant-garde rock, digital concretism, electronic folk, and experimental jazz. Over three days, this stage will host: Liars, Shit And Shine, Seeland, Pole & Band, Eliot Lipp, Birdy Nam Nam, Phoenecia, Kimmo Pohjonen, Kapitalband, The Considerate Builders Scheme, Radicalfashion, and Hifana.
The evening and night programs, as always, are filled with big names like Laurent Garnier, Miss Kittin, Isolee, Richi Hawtin, and Senor Coconut.
However, for the main and best in its category European festival, which has always been renowned for its interest in new and most relevant music, the program of Sonar 2006 looks quite dull.
