Lineup of Sonar 2008 Festival

Matmos, Pan Sonic, The Field, Bass Clef, El Guincho, as well as a new Scandinavian sound called Skweee will be represented at Sonar by Day. Richie Hawtin, Ewan Pearson, and Rob Da Bank - these names were recently confirmed to perform at Sonar by Night.

With a new expanded program and lineup, the daytime Sonar will take place at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona (MACBA), at the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), and at the Santa Monica Art Center (CASM). The nighttime program of Sonar has also been expanded and supplemented with live performances and unexpected DJ sets that can be heard at the Fira Gran Via complex (M2).

The festival plans to feature bolder experiments - North American project Matmos will present its new work after two years of silence, Pan Sonic will perform with new industrial minimalism. Furthermore: Shape Of Broad Minds with psycho-hop and rapadelia, Bass Clef with a stunning new approach to dubstep and much more.

As for dance electronic music, the daytime Sonar will feature The Field - new compact stars of micro-house, interplanetary hip-hop from DJ Take, black lounge from the French Blackjoy and Christopher D Ashley, who pay tribute to the dark, melodic, and intellectual electro era of New Order, and finally, semi-experimental semi-dance projects Flogsta Danshall and Harmonia, along with the new, fresh, and sensual Scandinavian Skweee.

At Sonar by Night, it’s worth noting Richie Hawtin's performance dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the M_nus label. Helping the techno hero will be DJs Magda, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Gaiser, and Heartthrob. Music from Ewan Pearson - DJ for Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, and Franz Ferdinand, and Rob Da Bank - popular promoter, DJ, and BBC Radio 1 presenter, will also be played on the dance floors.
