The Russian Association of Kitesurfing - the organizer of the international competitions O'Neill Kite Cup 2005 - offers the opportunity for extreme sports fans to witness an unforgettable spectacle - the Russian kitesurfing cup for the third time. The competitions will take place from February 19 to 26, 2005, in Egypt, in Hurghada, at the Sofitel hotel, where the strongest Russian kitesurfers will showcase a real show.
These competitions will be the first in the calendar of Russian competitions in 2005. The main contenders for the title of champion will be the 2003 Russian kitesurfing champion Dmitry Zabulya from St. Petersburg, last year's Russian cup winner Alexey Fedulov from Moscow, and the most progressive rider Evgeny Novozheev from Moscow, who has been kitesurfing for just over a year. In addition to Russian athletes, professional riders from Germany and France will participate in the "O'Neill Kite Cup 2005". Invited to participate is the silver medalist of the world championship, German Kristina Buse.
The 2005 competition will be special. For the first time, they will be held under the double elimination system, which more objectively reveals the winners in freestyle - the discipline where athletes demonstrate a high level of mastery of the board and kite, executing complex acrobatic elements.
All official events, a volleyball tournament for prizes from sponsors, and evening programs featuring DJ Denis Korablev and DJ Raf, including the celebration of the Day of the Russian Army, will be held at the Sofitel hotel.
