Subelectronica. Baby Mammoth aka Bliss in Moscow.

The new hero of the "Subelectronica" party series needs no introduction. One of the most interesting musicians and producers in English electronics, an active member of the Pork Recordings label and founder of one of its main projects Baby Mammoth, Mark Blissenden (Bliss) is playing at "Shanti" for the first time.
Starting from 1996, Baby Mammoth (Mark Blissenden and Andy Burdall) released six superb records of original trip-hop and downtempo on Pork. Like Fila Brazillia and Solid Doctor, Baby Mammoth specializes in breaks and ambient and leans more towards instrumental acid jazz than other trip-hop offsprings. Blissenden and Burdall met at Spiral Groove Records in the town of Kingston-upon-Hull, the cradle of British electronic music from where Fila Brazillia, Bullitnuts, Leggo Beast, and Momma Gravy hail. In 1996, at one of the clubs in Kingston-upon-Hull, Baby Mammoth met with the head of Pork, Dave Brennan, and his partner Steve Cobby (founder of Fila Brazillia). That same year, they released two albums on Pork: the magnificent "10,000 Years Beneath the Street" and "Bridging Two Worlds."
Their soft, dynamic, deep-house music became a secret weapon in Pork's arsenal. Melodic funk and acid jazz found a warm welcome not only in the mecca of downtempo at Pork but also in the collections of DJs and music lovers worldwide. Meanwhile, Baby Mammoth do not hide as hermits in the studio but actively perform solo, as a duo or as a live band with guitarist Tom Harland and drummer Andy Dimmock. In the past, Baby Mammoth played in several Nottingham indie projects, and their penchant for improvisation, both in the studio and on stage, is a distinctive feature of the duo, which is indispensable at every prestigious electronic festival, including The Big Chill.
The only performance of Baby Mammoth aka Bliss in Moscow will take place as part of the "Subelectronica" project at the "Shanti" restaurant. Admission is free.
