On April 17, Mixmaster Morris comes to Moscow to play his exclusive set
at Shanti. This performance will open a new series of parties called “Suelectronics” with the participation of the best performers of chillout music.
Mixmaster Morris is one of the living legends of ambient music. He began his activities on pirate radio in 1985 with the Mongolian Hip Hop Show, in which he easily mixed Terry Riley's plays with the singing of Tibetan monks, and Captain Beefheart with recordings from the wilds of the Amazon. Since then he has remained a driving force in the international avant-garde of the electronic scene.
In 1988 he organized live acid house concert The Madhouse, which became widely known as London's first techno party.
In 1989, under the pseudonym Irresistible Force, he created, together with The Shamen, the extremely successful project Synergy Club, with which he toured Europe and the UK for more than 2 years. Released at the same time and now classic, the albums Flying High and Global Chillage remained in the Indie Top 5 for a long time.
An accomplished musician, Mixmaster Morris is considered one of the top contributors to New Musical Express and other reputable publications. By the way, it was his reviews that previously unknown but talented artists were brought to light. Among them are Aphex Twin, Ken Ishii, Black Dog, Orbital, Atom Heart, Bedouin Ascent, T Power, Squarepusher, Dot Records.
Mixmaster Morris has always been a welcome guest at the biggest electronic music shows and remains one of the UK's most popular DJs. For 6 years he was a resident at the Glastonbury Festival, performing with The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Jamiroquai, Stereolab, etc. Mixmaster Morris is the only UK DJ to have played sets at every Love Parade in Germany. In 1999 he won the Ibiza DJ Award and the following year he was again nominated for best chillout DJ. Currently, the musician is working fruitfully with the Ninja Tune label.
