Subelectronica. Always Interesting.

The new guest of "Subelectronica" is unpredictable and burlesque DJ Simon - a veteran of Manchester's underground dance floors, a true British specialist in current freestyle and leftfield. Simon's musical career began at the tender age of six when he fiddled with his first receiver, tuning into local Manchester stations. The stations played black music. In the 80s, Simon fully immersed himself in nightlife - not leaving the legendary clubs like Hacienda. Intoxication was inevitable; early acid house, dub, electro-funk, hip-hop, go-go, and disco gradually became his familiar auditory landscape. Ironically, his first DJing experience happened at Cambridge University in the late 80s, and the first person to "book" Simon for a student party was none other than Colin Greenwood, who later became the bassist for Radiohead and is still a great friend of Simon. Until the early 90s, there was no major underground party in Manchester that Simon wasn’t involved in. For eight years, he released on Decoy Records and was a resident at the most significant clubs in Manchester. His Thursdays at Atlas, where Simon played afro-latino, breaks, trip-hop, deep soul, and early jungle, were hugely popular. Simon was one of the influential participants of Freedom Masses, Manchester's leading dub & reggae sound system. His mixes and compositions were favored by figures like Mr. Scruff, Chuck D, and Joe Strummer. At the turn of the millennium, a new important chapter appeared in Simon's biography - in collaboration with the label City Centre Offices and online store Boomkat, he founded the professional music company Baked Goods Distribution. But not by business alone - Simon continues to introduce Manchester to the latest trends, bringing to his promoted Sunday party Off-Peak artists of Arovane, Opiate, Team Shadetek, Dub Tractor, Ulrich Schnauss - for the first time in England. DJ Simon's only performance in Moscow will take place as part of "Subelectronica" at "Shanti" - don’t miss it! SHANTI (Myasnitsky proezd, d. 2/1) Saturday, September 11 Guests Arrival - by 21.00
