Techno Genius from Borodyanka

Pascal Orbe is one of the most original and unconventional techno musicians, the author of hits "La Rock" and "My Friend Dario". A native of French Grenoble (his compatriots include The Hacker and Oxia), he came to techno from Belgian new-beat. As a student at MGIMO, Pascal traveled extensively across the Soviet Union. Thus, the legend of the techno genius from Borodyanka (Kyiv region) was born. At major festivals like Munich's GigoloveParade and Berlin's Mayday, the artist was introduced as Vitalic (Ukraine). Pascal also has another pseudonym under which he signs his works - Dima. Among the musician's early works, the most memorable records are Dima's "Fuckeristic EP" and a collaboration with Al Ferox - VitalFerox's "Absolute EP".

Worldwide popularity came to Vitalic in 2003 with the release of the "Poney EP" and a remix of the Detroit project Numbers of Names' track "ShariVary" with The Hacker. Both records were released on the legendary Gigolo Records. The "Poney EP" remains a bestseller of the label to this day. The track "La Rock" from this EP has appeared in various compilations and topped the charts of Sven Vath, Dave Clarke, Miss Kittin, and DJ Hell.

In 2005, Vitalic released the album "OK Cowboy" on Citizen Records. The lead single "My Friend Dario" featuring punk vocals by Linda Lamb soared to the top of various charts and hit parades. In 2006, Vitalic received the most accolades at the Belgian festival I Love Techno. His live performance outshone both the return of Underworld and The Final Collabs (C. Liebing & Speedy J.).

Vitalic has about 20 releases and just as many remix records featuring stars like Giorgio Moroder, Bjork, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Slam, Aphex Twin, and more. His remix of Moby's single "Go", recorded on the same vinyl with a remix from rising techno star Trentemoller, is considered one of the most interesting and popular.
