The Knife participates in creating an opera

The Swedish electronic group The Knife has been invited to compose music and libretto for the opera 'Tomorrow, in a Year'. The work is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Charles Darwin's work 'On the Origin of Species' and is, of course, an opera not in the classical sense, but rather an experimental one. 'Our perception of the world has completely changed with the emergence of the theory of evolution. 'Tomorrow, in a Year' in its way of seeing and describing the world is reminiscent of Darwin's doctrine. Change as a process and the interaction of all things is the main idea of the performance,' commented the creators of the opera. The music will be written for three vocalists – the main characters of the action, representatives of electronic music, classical opera, and performance. Choreography for six dancers of different ages and appearances will be handled by the Japanese specialist Hiroaki Umeda. Work on the opera is already in full swing for one of the members of The Knife duo, Olof Dreijer, who is currently in the Amazon recording sounds of animals, fish, and plants.
