Tresor to Reopen in Berlin

Don't miss out, a new version of Tresor is coming. The legendary nightclub has finally found a new permanent location in Berlin. The organizers are not revealing the exact place yet, but assure that it is located 'in a fantastic area, in the heart of Berlin!' Tresor has a history of seeking venues. Initially founded in 1991 in the basement of an old department store in East Berlin, it had a rigid and gloomy atmosphere that greatly influenced the style of subsequent German clubs. In German, 'Tresor' means vault, which is what it was - bare concrete walls decorated with hundreds of open lockers-safes. Tresor is known worldwide not only for its parties but also for successfully blending the hard sound of Detroit with European electronic music in the 90s. Tresor also spawned a record label releasing music catering to the tastes of Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, and Underground Resistance. The original club space in the center of a just reunited Berlin was well received by visitors, but the area proved too lucrative for further development, and Tresor was forced to close in April 2005. The old Tresor premises are currently up for sale. 'During the Cold War, many wanted to seize this land. It was perhaps the most tempting place in the district,' says a representative of the owners of this area, Gary Osen. Fabian Hüter, managing director of CB Richard Ellis in Berlin, values the land on which the club stood at 'hundreds of millions.' In search of a permanent habitat, Tresor held parties at the Maria Club. A new place has already been promised to the club, so just a little more waiting is needed.
