Jacaszek trio to present new album Glimmer in Moscow

Friday evening, November 23, at the Artplay Club in Moscow, the Polish trio Jacaszek, representing a sample of delicate beauty, blending classical, electronic ambient music, and experimental jazz, will perform. Also featuring Rombix, a master of immersive analog sound from tape, and abstract soundscapes from the Phalf project.

Jacaszek (Poland)

An author and creator of electroacoustic music, Jacaszek blends prepared electronic sounds with acoustic instruments. An extraordinary figure on the Polish music scene, Jacaszek continues to successfully bring new projects to life and expand genre boundaries. His works are greatly influenced by music for theatre and cinema.

"My music is an ambitious pursuit to create my own personalized and recognizable musical language, where electronic sound manipulations enrich classical acoustic instrument sounds. Exploring invisible, metaphysical beauty is what drives me in these experiments."

In Moscow, the Jacaszek project, as a trio, will present the new album Glimmer (Ghostly International/Gusstaff Records), a natural outcome of ongoing explorations, a new, chambery, electroacoustic form of music. Barely distinguishable, almost imperceptible, dissolving electronic passages are complemented by the sounds of the harpsichord (Małgorzata Skotnicka), bass clarinet (Andrzej Wojciechowski), and glockenspiel (Jacaszek). The musical harmony and tonality of "Glimmer" reference baroque chamber music. However, the clarinet, glockenspiel, and distinctive electronic elements give Jacaszek's music a fresh and unique form, closely resembling the works of Ben Frost, Colleen, or Tim Hecker.

Jacaszek received the grand prize at the "Dwa Teatry" festival for the music for Jan Komasa's production "Golgota Wrocławska." Jacaszek composed music for two productions directed by Michał Siegoczyński - "2084" and "Showtime." He also created music for Mark Silver's film "There is no others, there is only us," and for Jolanta Krysowata's documentary "Nigdy nie wrocisz do domu" ("You won't ever return home"). His latest work was the music for Jan Komasa's film "Sala samobojcow" ("Suicide Room").

Jacaszek has performed in the UK (Fertilizer and Alpha-Ville festivals), the USA (New York Unsound), the Netherlands (Urbanexplorer festival), Belgium (Fereejen festival), Portugal, Ukraine, Sweden, Slovakia, Germany, as well as at major Polish festivals — Heineken Opener Festival, Off Festival, Tauron Nowa Muzyka, Unsound Festival, Astigmatic.

Rombix
Roman Voronovsky uses cassette and reel tape recorders as his main instruments. The sound of tape immersion and envelopment. His influence is greatly enhanced and elevated to the absolute. Blurred soft textures, non-aggressive noises, deep analog bass, unexpected transitions, clicks, and other artifacts of the cassette recorder era — all are obvious and invisible results of the electromagnetic structure known as Rombix.

Phalf

Philip Ilyinsky's project constructs intricate opaque microsound structures, exploring the relationship between nature and sound synthesis, as well as the limits of its perception by attentive listeners.
