From June 12 to 14, 2008, the annual international jazz festival 'The Estate. Jazz' will take place at the Arkhangelskoye estate near Moscow. The festival is rightfully considered not only the most extensive jazz event but also one of the brightest open-air projects of the year. The festival, being held for the fifth time, will run for three days this year due to its small anniversary. Set in the decorations of the 18th century, a real jazz metropolis will emerge from June 12 to 14: 5 stages, over 50 Russian and Western bands, 30,000 spectators. The festival brings together musicians from various music genres: mainstream, swing, lounge, free jazz, acid jazz, funk, ethno-jazz, fusion, jazz-rock, world music. So, from June 12 to 14, music lovers, jazz enthusiasts, trendy youth, families with children will gather at Arkhangelskoye as usual. Traditionally, the festival participants perform on five stages. Attention! The program on each stage is unique, and musicians perform only once! The festival will open on June 12 with the finale of a contest of young performers held by the 'ArtMania' agency under the auspices of 'The Estate. Jazz.' The finalists will perform on the 'Aristocrat' stage, winners will be announced, and valuable prizes will be awarded. In 2008, the festival presents headliners such as the brilliant funk-jazz stars The Brand New Heavies (UK) and the Afro-American jazz-ethnic legend Yusef Lateef performing with the Belmondo Quintet (USA-France). Lateef was one of the first to use ethnic instruments in jazz improvisations and revolutionized music. Also renowned worldwide as a friend and colleague of John Coltrane. The organizers note that the 2008 program 'The Estate. Jazz' is very cohesive and genuinely jazzy. Meeting participants like Arkady Shilkloper with the African#Sketchbook project (Russia-Germany), jazz bass theater by Alexander Rostotsky with legendary drummer Billy Cobham, followers of acid jazz Nicola Conte Jazz Combo (Italy), funky energy of Karl Denson (long-time collaborator of Lenny Kravitz) with the Greyboy Allstars project, six-string samurais Red Elvises (USA-Russia), the most virtuoso young guitarist in Europe, Frederic Belinsky (France), and many more, promises to be a remarkable experience.
