Valentin Stip - a new face of the Clown and Sunset label

With the release of the sixth record by the young label Clown and Sunset of the promising American Nicolas Jaar, his status as a reputable promoter of intricate downtempo house music is increasingly solidified. Today he presents his new artist - the very young Montreal native Valentin Stip and his debut album "Anytime Will Do", which fits perfectly into the label's musical concept with its affinity for 'intelligent' electronic music. Trained as a classical pianist, 19-year-old Stip suddenly grew tired of endlessly replaying traditional concert repertoire and turned his attention to experimenting with electronic sound. The result is a thoughtful and deliberately unpretentious record, where Stip skillfully superimposes variable piano passages over a solid collage of newly found sounds. 'Not a specific genre, just what my brain produces,' - this is how the author describes his music. 'An infernal concoction of distorted piano, ghostly voices, and metallic percussions,' is how the album is characterized by the journalist Lola M., who managed to interview the artist back in April. 'Through music, I try to find my soul,' admits Valentin Stip. 'If this quest sounds like this, I'd be better off never finding it...' concludes Lola M. The official release of the album 'Anytime Will Do' is set for May 31, 2011.
