Dumb-Unit is one of the most respected and fully-fledged Canadian labels specializing in minimal sound and fresh ideas in dance music. Distributed through the well-known distribution company Kompakt, Dumb-Unit presents artists such as Falko Brocksieper, Mia, Sweet n Candy, Pan/Tone, Jake Fairley, Repair, Adam Marshall... The head of Dumb-Unit label, Jeremy P. Caulfield, a DJ with 10 years of experience, has earned respect for his unique approach to sets and live performances, as well as his original production work. The growing international interest in him and his label makes Jeremy one of the key figures in the legendary Canadian techno-house scene. He calmly pushes the boundaries of familiar sound, infusing techno and house with a bright, sharp, and immediately recognizable sound, challenging the stereotypes of present-day techno. This modern, aggressive music with sharp meaning and energy sufficient for dance floors of any size has garnered international recognition and respect. Recently, his elegant sets could be heard at the dance floors of this year's Mutek festival in Montreal. They were a feature of the cult Fukhouse parties in Toronto, where Jeremy was a resident. His music is released on labels such as WARE, WMF, and Trapez. In Germany, his 'The Cities ep' became a hit reaching #23 on Groove magazine charts, and his release on WMF was named the best release on this label by Groove and was licensed for the new CD Fabric. The legendary Berlin club WMF became one of many clubs worldwide where you can hear Jeremy's smooth, hypnotic, and aggressive sets. By uniting and skillfully intertwining the tension of dry click-techno, bass-heavy tech-house, and a swaying evolution of minimalism, he creates a sound that captures the attention of his fans around the globe. For over 10 years, Jeremy has remained an influential figure in Canada's music scene. He holds residencies in all the major clubs in the country. His regular parties at the club System are currently the main events in Canada's techno and tech-house scene. Rico Henschel (Sweet 'n' candy) is an emerging star of electronic music. Born in Berlin in 1980, by the end of the first decade of his life, his hometown was engulfed by a musical revolution - the first Loveparade. Inspired by what he saw, Rico bought his first records and by the age of 13, he mastered the basics of DJing... The idea of playing his own music haunted him, so Rico started composing music. In 2002, his first record was released on the relatively young label Musik Krauze. His next release on raum-musik label brought him fame, reaching #10 on Groove magazine charts. This was followed by releases on labels like Lebensfreude, Opossum, and Dumb-Unit. Rico is known as a specialist in minimal sound. Crafting sound collages from a huge variety of different microparticles, assembling them like a puzzle into a clear and powerful acoustic picture filled with energy. Participants: Jeremy P.
