Renaissance parties at Gazgolder gallery

Despite the fact that the British DJ Steve Lawler has already been in Moscow, Russian clubbers will be able to truly appreciate the scale and versatility of his talent for the first time. One of the recognized gurus of the modern dance scene is coming to visit us with 'Renaissance Viva' - his signature party, which will kick off a series of official events for the Renaissance label in Russia. The duty of meeting trucks with decorations, slyly smiling in response to the question 'How did you manage to land such a contract?' and directing the unprecedented event will be the club project 'Gazgolder' and the promo group Underground Sound of Moscow. Steve Lawler is a DJ whose biography is well known to any clubber with a hint of curiosity in any corner of the planet - from London to Puerto Rico.

He first made himself known in the early 90s, organizing illegal parties in an abandoned tunnel under Highway 42 in Britain as a 17-year-old teenager. After the ravers were dispersed by the police, Lawler decided to go to Ibiza. Daily 8-hour sets at Mambo cafe not only allowed him to hone his skills but also attracted the attention of local promoters, including Darren Hughes ('Cream' and 'We love…'). His subsequent invitation to play at a Cream party was the turning point in Steve's life, after which his career took off. Residency at Space, being awarded the title 'King of Space' as the best club DJ, releasing compilations 'Dark Drums' and 'Lights Out' - all of this was enough to return to London as a winner.

However, Lawler did not stop there. After securing a spot at the 'Deep South' parties at Home - one of the most expensive clubs in London - he soon started thinking about his own project. The very first 'Viva' (also known as 'Harlem Nights)' was organized by Steve Lawler at The End club in London in 2002, then it graced the posters of Spanish clubs Space and Pacha. Under its name, in addition to the founding father, tracks were mixed by probably all the most famous DJs in Europe and the UK. The success of the project was reinforced by extensive tours and the release of the album 'Viva the Album,' consisting of three discs. Being one of the most visible phenomena in the nightlife of London and Ibiza, for Steve, according to his own admission, these parties were the main source of inspiration and a sense of contentment with life. 'This is my child,' he said about 'Viva.' For this reason, it seems quite natural that he does not consider it possible to entrust it to everyone and often tours simply as Steve Lawler. In connection with this, Underground Sound of Moscow considers it their duty to thank the Renaissance label and its resident for the trust they have shown and the right to organize the first official 'Renaissance Viva' party in Russia.

The year 2006 was marked for Lawler by the launch of his own independent digital label Viva Music, on which he releases only music that he personally likes.

Finally, the main thing directly related to Steve Lawler's set at the Gazgallery club on December 15, 2007, was the release of the album 'Viva: The London' in his discography. The compilation, consisting of two discs, fully reflects the spirit of his signature parties 'Vivaa' at The End club. This album, released in October of this year by the Renaissance Recordings label, Steve will present at the Renaissance Viva party. This album is the first swallow in a new series of Renaissance discs dedicated to the cities where Steve Lawler periodically holds his signature parties - Sydney and Los Angeles. And who knows, maybe Moscow will appear on the discography map of the famous Brit with time?
