April 17, 2003, Thursday, 9:30 PM. Party Video-Switch-Board. For several months, works were selected for the festival 'The Engine Driver', and the conscientious jury reviewed videos of all formats, VJ demos, multimedia installations, graphics and 3D experiments, original software, flash animation, and much more interesting content to then showcase it all in Moscow - in the final stage of the international festival of contemporary media art 'The Engine Driver.' But all this is quite specific for a normal club person and urban resident - agree, not everyone follows the development of modern art, let alone the role of software in creativity (the main theme of the festival). Therefore! On the eve of awarding the main prizes of the festival, Art-Tek records organizes a club party at '16 Tons.' There will be no Minister of Culture Shvydkoy, no officialdom, and no theoretical conferences on the festival's theme. We will simply demonstrate the video works of the brightest and most interesting participants of 'The Engine Driver 2003.' One of them, Andrius Ventslova, is the winner of the festival 'The Engine Driver 2003.' Andrius is a professional St. Petersburg VJ; he used to play at the club 'Port.' Another, a guest from Scotland - Pointless creation - is an honorary participant with a rich biography, presenting amusing and light video. The third VJ of the party is the radical Moscow VJ Eps (Vadim Epstein) performing with the idea of harsh manipulation of the viewer. Two well-known techno musicians of the Russian electronic scene plus one of the most interesting house and electro musicians of Moscow - here are our DJs for the evening. Lazyfish and Android will play techno, the latter having just returned from European tours in support of their new album. Moorush will play electro, who recently released another record in Germany on 'Force Trax.' The mood this evening will vary from soft to hard, and the musicians promise to experiment abundantly. Club '16 Tons' will also experiment with the club's design and even the familiar menu, so on the evening of April 17, you will be able to transport yourself to an absolutely fresh space of European clubs, audio and video juggling, and new technologies.
