Vinyl Picnic at ARTPLAY

For some, vinyl records today embody nostalgia for past musical perfection, for others - a collectible rarity, the value of which increases from year to year, and for the third - an indispensable professional attribute that cannot be abandoned despite rapid technological progress. Collecting and trading vinyl has become one of the ultra-relevant forms of cultural communication, and vinyl sets are a sign of special skill.

The 5th International Festival of Contemporary Music and Media Art MIGZ, together with the Goethe-Institut in Moscow, invites everyone to their 'Vinyl Picnic' at the Large Exhibition Hall of the ARTPLAY design center.

The event will be one of the activities of the interactive and multimedia exhibition 'Musik + X', which will be presented in Moscow by the Goethe-Institut as part of the ongoing Year of Germany in Russia 2012/2013. The 'Musik + X' exhibition in the format of an audiovisual stroll will introduce the audience to contemporary music culture in Germany - key musical genres and directions, their artists, and subcultures.

'Vinyl Picnic' for one day will complement the exhibition with invited musicians, DJs, and experts who will present not only rare German labels and musical rarities from their collections but also give short lectures and presentations, answer guests' questions, and share personal experiences.

For all those interested in the fate of music on vinyl, there is a great opportunity not only to explore collectible editions but also to update the contents of their music shelves. You can expect an impressive selection of vinyl records of various titles, labels, and musical styles - from exclusive rarities to the freshest releases, as well as a special program entirely dedicated to German music.

PERFORMANCES AND LECTURES:

Alexey Nikolaev - musician and teacher at the RMA business school on the course 'Digital Distribution.' Alexey will talk about the history, development, changes, and coverage of music genres using the example of the German label Sonar Kollektive.

Ilya Voronin - journalist and music critic. Ilya will talk about the Techno Alliance Detroit-Berlin and the influence of Detroit techno on the Berlin club scene and how German musicians influenced their overseas counterparts.

Lazar Vinogradsky - author of the 'Mozcow Dizcow' program about collectible records on the Silver Rain radio station. Lazar Vinogradsky will conduct a master class on the history of German Kraut Rock, with sound accompaniment on rare records.

Darya Redkina - DJ and director. Darya will talk about jazz and modern classics on the ECM Records label from Munich, founded by producer Manfred Eicher in 1969.

Lega Secdubec - DJ and musician. Will talk about the legendary German musician Moritz von Oswald and his latest project Moritz von Oswald Trio with musicians Max Loderbauer and Vladislav Delay.

Timur Omar - DJ and record collector. Will perform with German music from the late 70s to the first half of the 80s - synth music, minimal synth, Neue Deutsche Welle.

Andrey Pirumov - member of the Flammable Beats collective. Andrey will perform with a special hip-hop set of German releases.

Stas Cross - DJ and collector. Will perform with a special set of Funk/Soul, Broken beat.
