Following Richie Hawtin

Following Richie Hawtin, who performed with the symphony orchestra at the Sonar festival last year, Jeff Mills played with the National Orchestra of Montpellier in July of the same year. The idea to stage an unusual performance came to the mind of composer Thomas Rowsell, who has a long-standing friendship with Mills. So, Rowsell acted as conductor, and Mills took on the rhythmic component of the project. The techno guru masterfully selected the right beat for the music of the classical style of performance in real time. Whatever the result of DJ-conductor experiments with sounds and rhythms in cultural terms, their commercial component is more than obvious. In June 2006, Mills released another high-profile DVD (Cd) Live "Blue Potential".
