DJ Krush Performance

Last year's set by the cult Japanese musician and DJ at Ikra became one of the most successful parties in the club's history. Ikra barely managed to accommodate all those who wanted to see and hear the great Japanese artist - Krush played an encore twice. A year later, he returns to Moscow to play a set specially prepared for the Russian audience, including new tracks that have not been heard anywhere yet.

A native of Tokyo, in the late 80s, Krush saw the film *Wild Style* dedicated to DJing, got inspired, bought turntables, and from then on, only moved forward and upward. Starting with hip-hop and jazz, Krush quickly stopped settling for a simple mix of beats and samples and created his own, incomparable style. In the 90s, he was classified as trip-hop - Krush's deep, fantastically beautiful compositions did resemble the creations of Bristol's innovators, but time showed that his music transcended any genre labels.

Hip-hop, dub, IDM, electro, ethno - Krush never limited himself, experimented, and enjoyed working with rappers, musicians, and singers from all over the world; among his partners are the great DJ Shadow, Jamaican legends Sly & Robbie, Afro-European Zap Mama, The Roots, and dozens of other equally famous names. Krush's music combines tenderness, harshness, smoothness, and speed; it's like a Zen meditation practice in a monastery - when you meditate for a long time on a rock garden, but at any moment, a teacher can sneak up and hit you on the head with a bamboo stick. Unchanging over time, Krush continues to develop his unique sound in the new century; his Zen-hop worldview, his resonant, philosophical music remains mysterious and unfathomable. It seems like he, like a lotus, ripened in an unattractive concrete reality but found the strength to raise his head, detach from the earth, and become what he is now - an absolutely unique Eastern flower, beyond conventions and styles, self-aware and on vinyl.
