For the first time in Russia, Juan Atkins is coming, the founder of one of the most significant phenomena in modern electronic music - Detroit techno. His record 'Enter', released in 1983 in collaboration with Rick Davis under the name Cybotron, is considered the first techno release in electronic music history. This project later became influential for many electronic music genres. Since the late 80s, Atkins has worked under aliases Model 500 and Infiniti, releasing on his own label Metroplex, where he experimented with sound and created the legendary standard known as the Sound of Detroit. One of the musician's recent releases is 'The Berlin Sessions', 2005. Atkins' performance, master class, and press conference will take place in an unconventional, yet undisclosed venue on Maroseyka Street in Moscow. A former warehouse in the center of Moscow will transform into a techno loft - the innovative space of DIA 2006 for this evening. Atkins' visit marks the beginning of a series of cultural events as part of the DIA 2006 project. DIA (Design Innovation Awards) is a national professional award in the field of design, art, and architecture presented annually since 2003. A distinctive feature of DIA 2006 is the inclusion of a musical category (K-sound) in the competition. Entries of composers working with electronic and experimental music are accepted until the end of April 2006. The curator of the category is the renowned Russian DJ and composer Anton Kubikov.
