Star-studded lineup at Barcelona: new faces of Sonar Festival 2012

The musical lineup of the festival now resembles a diverse garden of artists, a sort of monster landing party. For example, on Friday night, along with the beauty Lana Del Ray and the master Richie Hawtin, the father-founder of the DFA Records label and former member of LCD Soundsystem, James Murphy, will be in charge. The headliners of the Saturday night will be the legendary New Order, the pioneers of early electronic music. The South African group Die Antwoord will come to Barcelona for the second time and, we are sure, will once again rock the dance floor of the peaceful suburb of Hospitalet-de-Llobregat (where the Sonar by Night pavilion is located) with a performance of their second studio album Ten$ion - a hoarse chaos on the verge of hip-hop and rave. And for the curious children of Sonar's dance floor, a pleasant surprise awaits - the new house project Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) and Raf Lundell with the obvious name The 2 Bears. In general, the festival's cultural program starts on Thursday, June 15 - and the right mood and picturesque atmosphere in the space of Sonar by Day will be recreated by the Archimedes Show by the American Alfred Darlington, better known under the pseudonym Daedelus.One of the most lively and interesting venues this year promises to be SonarDome - a cozy open-air hall under a colorful tent - and once again the musical content will be directed by Red Bull Music Academy. Not only legends of the scene - Dj Harvey, Dj Spinn & Dj Rashad - but also the brightest graduates of the academy from all over the world will present their take on modern dance electronic music. It will be very intriguing, for example, to get acquainted with the work of such young artists as Nguzunguzu, Canblaster, Jesse Boykins III, and Doc Daneeka.
