Again
2008 · Government of Sound / World Club Music · Альбомы
On May 20, the Government of Sound/World Club Music in collaboration with Dance Planet releases the new album by Bobina – Again. Despite some cyclicality in the title, the disc itself generally denies repetition. This is a true debut with a caveat about the two previous albums. Dmitry Almazov demonstrates the absolute of progressive dimensions that this time resonate with mainstream calls and sound with sharp vocals. He did it "again", but in a completely different way! The title track Lighthouse, which transformed the perception of Russian trance music as a whole and made it into the top 100 compositions on "Europe +", set a clear direction for Almazov’s new work. "The Lighthouse" illuminated the path from the underground to the mainstream. The saturation with instrumental tracks influenced the choice of a new format for Again – vocal dance music. A melodic polished sound, soft beat patterns, progressive rhythm sections with nervous notes breaking through, elements of relentless electro, and soothingly deep breakdowns. Again is a collection of sound micro-dispersed particles of summer, emotional splashes of rich progression. Lightweight lyrics without verbal special effects with a concise and extremely clear message. Strong professional vocals with elements of dreamy lightness and enchanting melodiousness. Invited artists alter the sensual image of Again to the point of unrecognizability. Dutch singer Elles de Graaf, who previously collaborated with Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, and Blank & Jones; Tiff Lacey, known for her works with ATB and Paul Oakenfold – bring to Dmitry Almazov’s disc the perfectly polished facets of feminine mystery and allure. One of the key compositions of the disc is the infamous and undoubtedly sensational track Slow, a cover version of the song of the same name by Kylie Minogue. The original was written by Kylie herself in collaboration with Dan Carey & Emilliana Torrini, who personally approved Almazov’s remake. A hard, electrified track with a clearly defined bass line, elements of dreaminess, and a whispering beat – is not just a unique case of receiving official approval for a remake from the pop princess but also evidence of the true authority of the Bobina project on the European dance scene. The summer carefree spirit has shattered across the disc in small shards. The series of tracks More Than Love, Where Did You Go?, Honestly, and Invisible Touch – are mood transporters that enliven the album with their melodiousness and exhilarating rhythm. "When I create a track, a lot depends on the mood at that moment," Dmitry admits. "If I work on it tomorrow, it will turn into a completely different composition." With this new work, Dmitry Almazov refutes the widespread notion that most Russian DJs lack their own original music. Because Again is a confident declaration of a qualitatively new level of activity for a modern artist. It took a year and a half to record the third album, and Dmitry made special album versions for all the tracks, finding an ideal balance between lengthy eight-minute interpretations and overly short diet radio versions.
