In three years, Highway has become one of the most recognizable brands in the domestic club scene.
The project's history began in 2005 with the first broadcast of the radio show on "Мегаполис 89.5 FM". Following this, a series of Highway parties featured stars of the global dance music scene, and in 2008, the eponymous vinyl label was launched.
Behind Mike Spirit — the creator and owner of the brand — lies vast, priceless experience in the club industry. As a DJ, promoter, producer, and radio host, he is intimately familiar with the laws of this business, and that is why we are witnessing the establishment of a label destined for great success not only in Russia (which is not even a subject for discussion) but also in Europe.
Currently, the catalog of Highway Records includes four releases — singles from wonderful domestic sound producers: Vadim Lankov's "Start the Trip", Seva K's "Far Away", SCSI-9's "Tierra del Fuego", and Pr.Morriarti's "Mystic Smile". Remix authors include Dave DK, Tom Pooks, Gui Boratto, Pascal F.E.O.S., Robert Babicz, Tigerskin, Da Fresh, and FEX — world-renowned musicians who need no introduction.
All four records are available in both vinyl and digital formats and are successfully sold in all major stores in Europe and leading online stores (Beatport, Juno, etc.). Highway's products have received strong support from top DJs (Laurent Garnier, Dubfire, Roger Sanchez, Steve Lawler, Sander Kleinenberg, Nick Warren — and this is only a tiny part of an impressive list), as well as respected British publications Mixmag and DJ Mag.
The compilation 'Highway Vol. 3' is a sort of annual 'report' on the label's activities and, at the same time, a look into the future. The first disc features the best tracks from recent months that have aired on the radio show. The names speak for themselves: Umek, Gui Boratto, Matthew Dear, Jamie Jones, Asem Shama, Phonique, M.A.N.D.Y., Booka Shade, Ripperton — these people embody modern techno and house music. The second disc is entirely dedicated to the artists of Highway. SCSI-9, Bvoice & KHz, Nikitin & Semikashev, Spieltape, Koala, BarBQ, Gui Boratto, Pascal F.E.O.S., Tigerskin, Dave DK — 'retrospective' (tracks already released on vinyl) and 'perspective' (upcoming releases).
"Highway Vol. 3" is a great gift for all connoisseurs of quality electronic music, interested in the trendiest, most engaging, and relevant sound.
