The Azuli label continues to present well-known and legendary DJs in a completely different status - as avid collectors, as people for whom music is at the forefront of their value system. All the legendary figures of American house music have already been covered, such as Danny Tenaglia, Tony Humphries, Derrick Carter, and Frankie Knuckles. Even English superstars - John Digweed and Danny Howells, each of whom presented a piece of their musical history, have shone through. Now it's time for another American - a person whose name is known to everyone who has ever danced in a club all night long. Roger Sanchez, or simply S-man, as the English-speaking press calls him - a man known for his club hits 'Another Chance', 'Turn On The Music' and 'Lost'. His performances, the signature parties 'Release Yourself' - all this has long elevated him to the rank of super DJs. To the overwhelming majority of dance music lovers, Sanchez is primarily known as a person who masterfully plays cheerful house music, where there are many hits, songs, and everything is clear and accessible. In the 'Choice' series, following all the rules, Sanchez presents himself primarily as a person deeply passionate about music - and he happily demonstrates this in his new work. His 'Choice' is divided into two parts (strictly by the number of discs). The first disc is entirely devoted to the music of the 70s - jazz, funk, salsa, italo-disco. No pop hits from those times, but everyone represented on this compilation has had a significant influence on both Sanchez's musical horizons and the entire American club culture. The main themes of the dance floors of the most famous New York clubs of that time, such as 'Loft', 'Studio 54', and 'Paradise Garage' - Babe Ruth, Chakachas, TW Funkmasters, plus a dozen lesser-known, but just as interesting artists should perfectly convey the mood that reigned on the dance floors of that time. The second disc is Sanchez of the late 80s and early 90s. 'Meaty' Chicago house, deep house mixed with traditional New York tribal, so beautiful, so shamanic and hypnotic. Add to this classic samples of electro, house music from Lil Louis, Frankie Knuckles, and Mr. Fingers, as well as the beginnings of techno in the form of the classic track 'Energy Flash' by Joey Beltram - and you have a clear and honest portrait of classic dance music from the early 90s. Sanchez did not just simply throw one track after another - being someone who loves what he does, he, following all the rules of American house school, rearranged some tracks to fit his style to make everything look more organic and natural. Sanchez's work is aimed not only at music enthusiasts but also at the broadest spectrum of dance music lovers, as Sanchez always manages to tell his story in an accessible and understandable way. This can be clearly seen in how popular he is worldwide.
