Composer, improviser, and musician from Germany Sasha Pushkin brings two of his programs to the Festival. "Live Soundtracking" is a kind of film concert. The audience becomes a direct witness to the condensed process of creating live sound, tracking what happens on screen along with the musician on stage. Unlike the archaic "taper" approach to "silent cinema," Sasha uses modern electronic technologies to create sound rhythms and expands the piano palette by mixing styles and new sound extraction methods. The program prepared for the Festival is based on the feature film "Tuvalu": an absurd monochrome phantasmagoria by Fait Helmer. Unlike "Live Soundtracking," which will take place in the CDH film concert hall, for SYNTEK Lab Sasha prepared a performance in the style of Pushkinsound Systems. This is an open live sound laboratory, where the search for sounds, ideas, and compositional solutions occurs not only in a sterile studio atmosphere but also right before the audience's eyes. Combining elements of the DJ approach, freestyle, the virtuosity of the musician and vocalist, Sasha creates his personal and always new synthesis remix each time.
