Benji Vaughan

Benji Vaughan has existed in the music world for almost two decades under many different names. Most of them are successful collaborations with other artists: Citizen Kaned, Contraband, Cyberbabas, Havana, Junk, Mudspirit, Sleaze, Vaughan Williams, The Zap! But the most well-known of all his aliases is Prometeus, his solo project #1.
The all-knowing "Wikipedia," triumphant in its objectivity, describes the sound of Benji extremely dryly: "clearly defined bass," "high production quality," "intensive development of musical themes." In reality, behind these faceless words lies only one undeniably correct conclusion: Prometeus is a truly unique psy-trance producer who has brought his significant "new word" into this fairly conservative genre—no matter how cliché that sounds.
Currently, Benjamin has somewhat cooled towards psychedelic dance tracks with skyrocketing BPM, focusing on his "soft" chillout and downtempo projects, one of which is the legendary Younger Brother—a duet with the outstanding British musician Simon Posford. Their debut album “A Flock of Bleeps,” released—naturally—on Twisted Records, earned cult status within a matter of days and was later recognized as a classic of modern electronic music. The second album—“The Last Days of Gravity”—also made quite a stir, significantly aided by the stunning artwork from 65-year-old Storm Thorgerson, a veteran designer who once worked with Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.
On Friday, December 11, Benji Vaughan will perform his set at the Ketama café, which regularly delights knowledgeable audiences with new and innovative musical achievements. During the performance, the sixth album “Ketama Live” will be recorded—a great gift for those who, for respectful (and only such) reasons, cannot personally attend this fascinating event.
