The Cocoa Tunez project emerged in 2000 on a wave of light electronic music, blending characteristic elements of interconnected genres—funk, lounge, acid jazz, easy listening, and downtempo. The project's ideologist and composer is Andrey K (pronounced "Kay"). Andrey first touched synthesizer keys in 1996, and music has remained his primary passion ever since. The project's debut album, The Mystery of a Third Planet, was released in 2001 by Izhevsk's independent label Kama Records and was filled with themes reflecting the style of the once-popular Pork Recordings label. However, in 2003, Andrey unexpectedly shifted direction toward lo-fi sound, focusing on studying and electronically processing styles such as waltz and contemporary music.
