Combichrist

In summer 2003, Andy LaPlegua, frontman of Icon of Coil, launched his new electro-industrial project, Combichrist. The debut on Out Of Line Records, "The Joy of Gunz," exemplified harsh EBM / industrial sound. Pulsating dance grooves and distorted beats paired with harsh vocals and electronic arrangements powerfully assault the dancefloor. The best term for this new form of pure, irrepressible musical energy is "Techno — Body — Music" — it merges Techno's direct rhythm with EBM's raw energy. While provocative samples and aggressive sound remain core to Combichrist's universe, the project veers toward pure electronic chaos. Few artists have influenced the techno body music genre as profoundly as Andy LaPlegua's Combichrist. The long-awaited "Today We Are All Demons" blends a fierce mixture of EBM and techno with hints of industrial and aggrotech, all rooted in pure electronics. The heavy, distinctly Europeanized sound fits Combichrist perfectly: musicians purging their demons and venting rage under pulsating rhythms and electronic thunder — quintessential club hell.
