Etienne De Crecy

For three years, from 2004 to 2006, Etienne De Crecy toured the world with his live project Super Discount 2, which also featured Alex Gopher and Julien Delfaud.
The trio performed over 100 concerts - from Europe to Australia and South America.
They played in the best clubs (Lux in Lisbon, The Loft in Barcelona, The End in London, Indigo in Istanbul) and at major festivals (Bennicassim, Creamfields Andalucia, Rock Werchter, I Love Techno, Roskilde, Melt), concluding the tour with an exciting finale at the We Love Trax party in Paris in November 2008.
The experience gained by the famous DJ and producer from performing in front of diverse audiences (from techno to rock fans) allowed Etienne De Crecy to embark on realizing his first conceptual solo project. This will be true electronic sound, executed only on decks without the use of laptops in the framework of an impressive conceptual live performance with visual and stage design from the Parisian creative association Exyzt.
The concept of the project, named Etienne de Crecy Live, is rooted in the impressive discography of the producer - from the classics Le Patron est devenu fou and Prix Choc (from the album Super Discount); Am I wrong and Scratched (from Tempovision) to Overnet and Fast Track (from the critically acclaimed Superdiscount 2). Etienne also presents fresh tracks (Fuck and Punk from Commercial EP 1 and Commercial EP 2) and exciting new items (Start the Panic and Here We Go) in a potential playlist. Potential, because depending on the mood, the type of event, or stage of the show, he can play any track from his repertoire live.
Abandoning the use of a laptop and armed only with vintage gear (MPC1000 sampler, 2 TB303’s, 2 Bass Station synthesizers, and a multi FX effect processor and mixer), Etienne plays true electronic music using only sound equipment with spontaneous loops, programming, live effects, and filters...
Working in clubs around the world and daily inspired by new sounds, Etienne constantly alters his tracks during his live show.
Although Etienne's new live program is retrospective in most of the tracks chosen for playback, it is undoubtedly future-oriented through its sound, the technologies used, and the accomplished scenography.
Francois Wunschel and Pier Schneider - the founders of the Parisian association Exyzt - developed a live show for Etienne with a stage structure consisting of metal pipes and video equipment. This geometric structure, measuring 6x6 meters, serves as a technical device that provides the display of original video effects synchronized with De Crecy's live show.
The visual aesthetics of this 'light music' evokes memories of the first computers of the '70s with monochrome screens in green and orange tones and eight-bit technology. This simplified yet hypnotic visual accompaniment perfectly matches the musical compositions. The combination of decor, video imagery, and sound leaves the audience awestruck, blurring the lines between reality and virtuality.
