Jacek Sienkiewicz

Alone in the field, Jacek has distanced himself from any groups and creative unions, choosing the path of independent development. The ambitions of a pioneer of independent electronic music in Eastern Europe were enough to become a techno DJ and producer, as well as the head of the label Recognition. After trying his hand as a DJ in 1995, Jacek realized that this was too low a bar for him, and he could only realize himself by creating his own tracks. Since working on the old 303 synthesizer and his first performances in 1996, he has gained significant experience and amassed a whole warehouse of equipment. In his free time from managing the label, Jacek released a whole series of his own releases. Two albums came out with the colorful logo of Cocoon, with singles included in the catalogs of labels Klang, Trapez, and WMF. The style of the Polish musician has an unusual foundation. The sound roots come from minimal techno and the Detroit direction. Sources of inspiration are often obvious, but the tracks retain all the facets of individuality, from the acceleration of the beat to the multilayered, melancholic sound of the keys. The imagination of the performer sometimes exceeds the limits of the dance floor: recently, Jacek has taken an interest in experiments, polyrhythmic patterns, resonating, for example, on an EP included with the journal De:Bug. Live performances attract an audience that prefers a non-canonical approach to techno. It is worth noting that for Jacek, live sessions are not only about working with a computer but also with the tastes of listeners. Having received invitations to large-scale events like I Love Techno, Awakenings, Nature One, Love Parade, and Detroit (Fuse festival), he remained unpretentious and readily played at very small venues as well.
