Jussi Pekka

I don't play music I don't like. Of course, there are DJs who do it for money, but I do this to support good musicians. I come from the frozen north, where there are the most mobile phones and internet connections per capita in the world, where saunas, reindeer and vodka are a way of life, and where locking yourself in a studio and making music seems like the only logical thing to do during dark, cold winters – the words of our Finn Jussi-Pekka. Jay-Pee, as his friends affectionately call him, is an artist in the deepest sense of the word. His artistic approach can be heard in practice – catch one of his life-affirming DJ sets to feel it. But he's not just a DJ. His producer side perfectly captures the character of the music he plays, blending Detroit techno, groovy beats, and acid elements into a distinctive personal sound. Pariikka navigates the crossover between house and techno with unmatched subtlety, subconsciously evoking a constellation of multi-genre DJs: Richie Hawtin, Steve Bug, Ricardo Villalobos, Laurent Garnier, James Holden, Electric Indigo, and Timo Maas.
