Say what you will, but our northern neighbors create the finest, most beautiful and hypnotic deep house and techno. Their success likely stems from nature's encouragement of unhurried contemplation and reflection. We know Vladislav Delay; sometimes Finnish sounds echo Basic Channel's rumble (only slightly colder); sometimes gorgeously crystalline deep house. All distinctly Finnish. The musician behind the pseudonym Kalle-M (Kalle-Markus Matasyärvi) is not merely an electronic musician but a music production specialist, formally trained at the Polytechnic Institute in Virrat. After releasing tracks on the American label Iron Box Music, Kalle began collaborating with fellow countryman Jussi Pekka, owner of Frozen North Records. This led to releases on the legendary Frisbee Tracks and Phonocult. Today, Kalle-M represents the most authentic rising star of the techno scene.
