The band "Chikis" emerged in the summer of 2005 in the small resort town of Primorsk, near the Finnish border, on the shores of the bay. It was formed in St. Petersburg, in the home studio of keyboardist and vocalist Galya Chikis, who first appeared in Primorsk in January 2005. Initially, the musicians rehearsed in the Lutheran church – a monument of early 20th-century architecture by the bay. They later moved to St. Petersburg. The collaborative creative process led to the formation of the band "Chikis" and provided many fresh ideas for the legendary Primorsk group "188910", which marked its first Moscow performance at "Picnic Afisha" on July 28, 2007. "Chikis" is a bright, beautiful, and vibrant phenomenon on the Russian music scene. With a non-standard lineup (vocals, keys, rhythm section, guitar, sampler), a unique sound, and a diverse sonic palette where noise and ambient sketches alternate with dance rhythms and heartwarming love-cosmic lyrics, it inevitably recalls such "musical units" as early Sigur Ros, Broadcast, Lali Puna, and Scala.
