It's hard to write about such people. It's difficult to decide what to do first: to throw in names of bands, formations and, excuse me, relatives, thanks to whom Kristina Anna Valtsisdottir (aka Kria Brekkan) may be known and interesting to the listener; whether to start with a description of the music and images of her creativity; to emphasize the last name, recalling Björk Guðmundsdóttir and stating that the similar phonetic component is not the only coincidence - it’s hard to say... Perhaps, let's start in order: Kristina Anna Valtsisdottir is one of the founders of the band Mum - an Icelandic experimental ensemble. Their work became popular in the independent scene thanks to a complex mixture of electronic sounds, noise effects, the use of chamber instruments, and the soft female vocals of Kristina Anna. Together with Sigur Ros, Emilíana Torrini, and the aforementioned Björk, Mum is diligently working to bestow Iceland with the title of the most mysterious place on Earth. The corresponding label is Fat Cat Records, notable for the best records by Animal Collective, as well as Black Dice, Max Richter, and other proponents of transcendental electronics. In 2005, Kristina Anna meets AC member Avey Tare. She takes part in the creation of Animal Collective's album "Feels" and together with Avey writes the record "Pullhair Rubeye". Soon after, they get married and move to Avey's place in New York. In 2006, Kristina Anna leaves Mum and focuses on her own project. Kria Brekkan is the quintessence of strange fragile lightness and illogicality that characterizes key figures of modern freak-folk and psychedelic sound. It is a rethinking of self-expression paths and new facets of talent that transform in the search for other forms, new spaces. Kria not only sings but also uses various devices for generating and reproducing sound. In her music, one can easily get lost, but an exit is also guaranteed.
