Moon Unit
Великобритания
Straight from the dance floors of Berlin, London and Belfast, influenced by italo, krautrock and psychedelia, and following a successful DFA collaboration on the compilation Nobody Knows Anything, Supersoul label founder and producer Xaver Naudascher, DJ and producer Paul Mogg, and singer Rosalind united to create Moon Unit, a 21st-century pop group. Rosalind fled her working-class Northern Irish background to London in 2001 to study at Saint Martin art college, where she met Paul Mogg. Enchanted by the city's creative opportunities, she devoted herself to creating her artistic vision and identity. With vocal sensitivity reminiscent of Scott Walker crossed with Morrissey's lyrical wit and Diamanda Galas's allegorical language, Rosalind is a singer with understated style and unique talent. Her four-octave vocal range and compositional abilities added a captivating new dimension to the sonic landscapes of Mogg and Naudascher. Having met through mutual connections while both released on DJ Hell's Gigolo Records, Paul and Xaver have collaborated productively since 2006, earning respect from diverse artists including David Holmes, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, and James Murphy. Naudascher's reputation improved significantly with the launch of Supersoul Recordings, transforming it into one of the most exciting new independent dance labels in the world. At Supersoul headquarters, their shared love of analog synthesizers and desire to integrate pop vocals with electronic music culminated in Moon Unit. By 2009, having performed at prestigious venues including Sketch at London Fashion Week, Razzmatazz in Barcelona, and Space in Ibiza, Moon Unit finally prepared to impress the world with their long-awaited debut album.
