Aquasky

Dave Wallace, Brent Newitt, and Keiron Bailey aka AquaSky are envious of many with their entire army of fans around the world. The reason for this is their versatility in musical preferences. The story of Aquasky began in 1995, when three close friends decided to record a few drum'n'bass tracks. Their demo tape reached the label Moving Shadow, where Dave Wallace, Brent Newitt, and Keiron Bailey were offered to release several mixes. Soon, having attracted the attention of more solid labels, Aquasky became the property of Polydor. Their first release on Polydor was the 6-track "Orange Dust" – an amazing mix of drum and bass and hip-hop. Notable talents like Big Shug from Gangstarr and Scratch Perverts were specially invited for the recording. In 1997, after the release on Polydor of "Strategy/Vortex", irreconcilable disagreements arose between both parties, and the relationship with the record label was terminated. In 1999, Aquasky returned to Moving Shadow, where they recorded "Bodyshock", soon followed by "Aftershock", and then a series of works in collaboration with London Electricity, Rob Playford, Mr. Scruff, and Adam Freeland. It is worth noting that after meeting Adam Freeland, Aquasky began to experiment with Nuskool Breaks. The release of Aftershock marks a significant turning point in the collective's creativity, as they began to pay special attention to breakbeat. Since 2002, their releases have followed one after another with a somewhat different direction, the sound becoming more energetic and fragmented. Today, their signature style is the so-called funky-breaks. With the launch of their own nu-school break-step record label Passenger, Aquasky has reached the same level as stars like Backdraft, Infekto, Autobots, and Freestylers, and currently presents serious competition to them. Amongst fans of the collective's work are influential figures such as Laurent Garnier, Plump DJ's, Freestylers, and Tayo.
