Alex was born in the ancient Russian city of Smolensk into a family of military medics. He traveled across Russia with his parents and spent several unforgettable years in Germany. In 1989, he settled in Moscow. As is often the case in families of doctors, he decided to continue the family legacy. However, after studying for two years at the Moscow Medical Academy, he realized it wasn't for him and left without hesitation. In 1993, he became interested in avant-garde fashion, teaching himself how to cut and sew by reading books. He has always loved drawing. Simultaneously with fashion design, Alexey worked on art objects, with several of his exhibitions held in Moscow at the Central House of Artists, and one, the most interesting, in Yekaterinburg. In 1996, the magazine PTYUCH recognized Alexey Meshkov as the best avant-garde designer, awarding him the Golden Ptyuch prize. Alexey's experience with fame was rather strange—he quickly grew bored with sewing clothes. Long before his decision to become a DJ, he was interested in music and independently prepared mixes for his fashion shows. He first stood behind the turntables at a party in the club Aquatoria on December 28, 1996. Later, under the alias DJ Tyuk, he began appearing in other nightclubs. He was a resident at the legendary radio station Substantsiya, known for its industrial-dark atmosphere during night broadcasts—Psychic TV and Throbbing Gristle, dark ambient, and trip-hop, as well as Saturday morning techno and electro sessions. After the closure of Substantsiya, he played on radio Station 2000 and Dynamite. Today, the name DJ Meshkov is associated with an entire era of the dance movement and an impressive list of clubs, including Luch, A-Club, Island of Treasures, Hippopotamus, Chudo-Bar, Park, Virus, Third Way, Justo, Herzen, KakBy, Gramophone, Buddha-Bar, Propaganda, Metro, Territory, City, Mix, as well as festivals Kazantip, Instantsiya, Forts, and Creamfields. Since 1999, he has been working on his own music project Nooncat. His intelligent, finely crafted tracks have been released on German labels: Salo, Trapez, Konvex-Konkav. He currently collaborates with Treibstoff and Trenton Rec. In Cologne and Frankfurt, his best EPs are released one after another: Snowdust, Pop Korn, Under The Moon, Under The Sun, Down The Room, Blue Screen. The editions of Down The Room and Blue Screen sold out within a week. In 2004, the club 16 Tons awarded Noon(at with the famous golden gargoyle as the best dance project of the year. Live sets: Cologne, Leipzig, Berlin, Skopje; DJ sets in England, Macedonia, Germany, Austria, Poland, and across Russia. He is currently a resident at the most beloved club of the Moscow bohemia, Mix, and Deepmix Moscow Radio, and regularly plays at the clubs Shanti and City. His DJ stylistics are quite broad yet original: ranging from minimal to tech house and techno with an obligatory romantic touch of 80s pop music and light trance.
