Canadian Robert Strauss has firmly established himself in the ranks of musical elite over the past three years, whose interests are difficult to pin down within even a few genres. A multi-instrumentalist, singer, producer, arranger, and songwriter - Strauss has collaborated with American disco legend Leroy Burgess, cult hip-hop artists DJ Spinna and Slum Village, house music icons Osunlade and Henrik Schwarz. And perhaps these names explain the essence of the musician's creativity much brighter than a lengthy list of styles and sub-styles.
Strauss's debut album titled Quasars & Phazars was released on the Freerange Records label, owned by Jimpster, while last year, another respected label - BBE Records - released his fresh longplay Mr. Feelings, inspired by the era of disco-boogie, soul, and funk. The record received high praise from genre connoisseurs such as Dimitri from Paris, Jazzanova, and Rainer Trüby, who warmly welcomed the return to the big stage of one of the fathers of house music Leroy Burgess - he not only sang on Strauss's album but is now performing live with him.
