The Futurecop!

«Music of the future», as they would have imagined it in the 80s!!! British duo The Futurecop! are 27-year-old Manzur Iqbal and Peter Carrol. Meeting at university, they immediately became friends, united by a passion for 80s pop culture, which later materialized into The Futurecop! project. Their music echoes the flamboyant fashion of the 80s, film soundtracks from that period, and polished synth-pop that perfectly captures the mood of the bygone decade! The artists were inspired by 80s rock ballads, long-haired glam metallers, and bands like Berlin, Van Halen and Roxette, as well as catchy pop melodies from the late 90s: Backstreet Boys and even Boyzone! Today, as the main acts that influenced their music, the musicians cite Justice and Daft Punk. The Futurecop! happily acknowledge the success of their music, but prefer not to classify it into a separate genre: «We create music not to impress anyone, we simply enjoy ourselves and express in sound what we are passionate about». The duo are big fans of contemporary electronic music, reflected in their DJ sets, and recently collaborate with many artists from Christian Rich to Yo Majest, creating remixes of Crystal Castles, Yo Majesty and Black Kids. Myspace helped them gain recognition: «All you need to be noticed is a cool idea and quality sound». Things accelerated after signing with LA label iHEARTCOMIX and Southern Fried Records (owned by Fatboy Slim). Their debut EP The Unicorn & the Lost City of Alvograth launched in early 2009, with three new singles planned for year's end under Peacefrog records, followed by a full album. The Futurecop! have toured America and Europe with sold-out UK shows. «Some performances impressed us – we didn't expect so many people to care about our work!» On their future, Manzur says: «We'll just keep having fun – it's a huge bonus that our creativity is valued, and we'll continue as long as it brings us pleasure!»
