The DJ and musician enjoyed dining at sushi restaurant Okinami so often that he decided to negotiate with owner Mike Dodd to move Okinami to the center of Brighton, Southern England. Fatboy (real name Norman Cook) has been coming to eat at Okinami's main branch in Hove, East Sussex, England for 11 years, and now it's time to move!
At his new restaurant, Norman is planning small changes in the kitchen, and the famous chef Jamie Oliver has already been chosen as his main adviser. The musician says: “Jamie has always been a great friend of my wife Zoe, and this led to our acquaintance and trusting friendship. I always turn to him for advice if I suddenly don’t understand or don’t know something. And Jamie is always ready to help me. He even called me from Australia once to tell me how many grams of olive oil should be added to one of the dishes...”
Norman says that since the birth of his son Woody, who is now seven, he has given up nightlife and devoted himself entirely to home and cooking delicious food: “Yes, now I am a real gourmet, I love cooking risotto, and it brings me real happiness,” adds Norman.
In 2007, the Okinami sushi restaurant was included in the top five best restaurants in England.
